PASHUPATINATH:

A GUIDE TO SACRED JOURNEY

Beneath the shadow of Pashupatinath Temple’s towering presence, lie numerous other temples, each with its own glory and story to tell.

Let’s explore the historical significance and spiritual magnificence of Pashupatinath.

Why does this eBook matter?

Our initial understanding of Pashupati was that it is a UNESCO world heritage site, a renowned spiritual destination, and a place with a fascinating history. We expected to find an abundance of resources to delve deeper into its myths, legends, and historical significance. However, to our disappointment, we discovered a lack of accessible and relevant materials that could provide comprehensive knowledge about this remarkable place. The available resources were either dense and difficult to comprehend or provided only superficial information. Determined to fill this gap, we embarked on a journey to uncover the mysteries of Pashupati and create an easy-to-read, authentic, and accessible resource for everyone. Our main goal is to make this rich and interesting history accessible to people who are even slightly interested in knowing about Pashupati and exploring this sacred journey at their own pace.

We hope that this book becomes a wholesome experience to you!

Behind the Scenes

At the outset of our journey, we were a group of strangers, united by a common desire to explore and rediscover our roots, culture, and the rich history of Pashupati. Our collective goal was to create an accessible and authentic guide to the journey of Pashupatinath, and thus began our research efforts. During this initial phase, we were fortunate to receive invaluable guidance from Jogi Debath ji, who helped us navigate the path forward when we faced uncertainties.

As our research progressed, we embarked on several field visits, where we had the privilege of being guided by Kedarman Bhandari ji, the esteemed main Bhandari of Pashupati temple. His unwavering support and expertise proved instrumental in shaping our understanding of Pashupati. We are deeply grateful for his continuous assistance.

As a whole, our research employed a comprehensive approach by utilizing both primary and secondary sources. The primary sources involved conducting interviews with Jogis to gather information directly from them. Additionally, site visits were conducted, enabling researchers to personally observe the temples. Secondary sources, such as books, were consulted to provide additional support and verification for the acquired information.

However, our project became much more than a mere compilation of historical stories. It evolved into a source of joy and fulfillment for each of us. Countless field visits, Zoom calls, and passionate discussions about spirituality brought us closer together, creating an enriching and rewarding experience that surpassed our initial expectations.
